When you put a heater behind a mirror in that kind of environment, you’re basically inviting electrical trouble if you aren’t careful. Why humidity is a problem
Here is the thing about water vapor: it loves cold surfaces. When your heater kicks on, that temperature jump creates condensation. If the frame isn’t grounded, you’re missing a huge piece of the safety puzzle.
Balancing heat and safety
It’s tempting to just crank up the wattage so the fog disappears instantly. But there’s a trade-off. Higher wattage means more intense, localized heat. If you push it too far without the right thermal shielding, you can actually melt your gaskets or cause them to off-gas (that weird chemical smell). Over time, that heat just eats away at the insulation. **Our advice?**Keep the wattage balanced and always, always wire it into a dedicated GFCI outlet.
