
Why Your Changing Room is Still Freezing (and How to Fix It)
Ever stepped out of a shower into a changing room and felt that instant, bone-chilling shiver? It happens because standard heaters are kind of a joke in open spaces. They heat the air, the air rises to the ceiling, and you’re left standing in the cold. We decided to stop fighting the air and just ignore it. That’s why we use short-wave infrared (IR) in our towel rails. Instead of trying to warm up the whole room, these units beam heat directly onto whatever is in front of them. Your skin, your towel, the wall—they just soak up the energy. Instant warmth. No waiting. Most towel rails are filled with fluid and take forever to get warm. Not these. The elements hit peak temperature in seconds. It creates this little pocket of intense heat that kills that “cold shock” the moment you step near it. You don’t have to wait for the room to reach a certain temperature; you just feel it immediately. To make this work, we use tungsten filaments wrapped in quartz glass. Quartz is tough—it can take the heat without warping or bowing. We also add halogen gas inside to keep the filaments from burning out too quickly. But there is a catch. Because the heat is so concentrated, placement is everything. If you mount the rail too close to where someone is standing, it can feel like standing too close to a campfire. You’ll get toasted. We spend a lot of time getting the spacing just right so the heat feels like a warm hug, not a heat lamp at a buffet. The best part? Installation is a breeze. They fit right into standard electrical setups. We use reinforced connectors because these things pull a lot of power, and we don’t want any melted wires. Plus, since there are no pumps or liquids involved, you never have to worry about a leak ruining your floors. One small favor: keep the glass tubes clean. If dust builds up, it creates these little hot spots on the glass. Over time, that stress can crack the tube. A quick wipe-down every now and then, and you’re golden.
