Dealing with the Steam
You’ll see the “IPX4” rating on the box. In plain English? It means the unit can handle splashes from any direction. We spent a lot of time on the seals and gaskets because steam is sneaky. It doesn’t just cause a short circuit today; it creeps into the wiring and eats away at the terminals over time. We made sure the internals stay bone-dry, even when your bathroom feels like a sauna.
The Trade-off: Instant Heat vs. Wall Space
These infrared lamps are great because they warm you up, not the air around you. You don’t have to wait ten minutes for the room to get cozy—it’s immediate. But there is a catch. Because these things pump out so much heat so fast, the outer casing gets hot. If you mount it too close to a plastic fixture or a sensitive wall, you might warp the material. Just double-check your clearances before you drill. Give it some breathing room. One last tip: wire it into a dedicated GFCI circuit. The quartz and the shell do the heavy lifting for physical protection, but the GFCI is that extra layer of electrical insurance that lets you relax and enjoy the heat.
