We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about why PET blowing lines crash. Usually, it comes down to a few lamps burning out because the voltage is all over the place or the heat isn’t hitting the preforms evenly. It’s a headache nobody needs. That’s why we built our infrared lamps to be simple, drop-in replacements. We made them fit the physical and electrical footprint of about 95% of the machines out there. No fuss, no custom brackets.
The Nerd Stuff (That Actually Matters)
These lamps use high-voltage circuits to blast short-wave radiation into those PET preforms. It has to happen in seconds. Here’s the thing: if you try to save a few bucks with a lower-wattage lamp, your preforms won’t get hot enough. You’ll end up with uneven walls and a lot of wasted plastic. On the flip side, if the voltage is off? You’ll pop the lamp in a matter of hours. We matched the specs of the Contiform 1/2 exactly so you don’t have to guess.
Built to Last, Easy to Swap
We use heavy-wall quartz glass. Why? Because when things get that hot, cheap filaments start to sag. We also fill them with halogen gas so the glass doesn’t turn dark over time. That keeps the heat flowing strong for thousands of hours. As for the installation, we stuck with standard R7s and Sk15 connectors. You don’t have to touch your wiring. Just pull the dead tube out, slide the new one in, and you’re back in business.
Real Talk: The Shop Floor
Now, a quick heads-up. A brand new lamp is only as good as the reflector it sits in. If your reflectors are pitted, oxidized, or just plain dirty, your efficiency is going to tank, no matter how fancy the lamp is. While you’re swapping the tube, take a second to check the alignment. It only takes a moment, but it stops those annoying hot spots from burning your preforms. Keep the reflectors clean, pop in a fresh lamp, and your cycle times will stay exactly where they need to be.
