We built this infrared lamp as a direct swap for the Sidel Matrix SMI SR 12 blower. The whole point is simple: drop it in, and it behaves just like the original—no messing around with the heat settings or re-tuning the whole system.
The Inside Story
Sidel Matrix blowers need heat that shows up the same way, every single time. So we matched the lamp’s electrical and thermal profile to the original, which means the machine doesn’t have to “figure things out” on the fly. The wattage and voltage are chosen to deliver steady heat across the cycle, and the length is built to sit in the same spot. That keeps the heat output in step with the blower’s airflow and how it exchanges heat.
What It’s Made Of
Inside, you’ve got a shortwave infrared halogen element in a quartz tube—built for fast heat-up and steady output, even when it’s switching on and off over and over. A reflective coating focuses the energy forward, so less heat wanders off where it shouldn’t. And that R7s connector? More than just a convenience. It’s a standard fit that gives you secure contact and consistent polarity, so you wire it the same way every time. In a tough blower environment, that kind of reliability helps prevent hot spots and shaky connections.
What It Does For You
In PET blowing, the lamp heats the preform at a controlled pace, and the blower needs to hold a stable temperature window. Because our replacement matches the original specs, it goes in as a true drop-in and keeps the same temperature curve. The payoff is real: fewer parameter tweaks, less scrap, and output you can count on. Just one note—those high heat levels that make it respond so quickly mean the existing cooling and ventilation need to stay in spec.
