The Inside Story
Here’s the core of it: these heaters run at 2500W on 230V–240V, with 300mm of active heating length. That kind of power packed into such a small footprint means you get a quick, satisfying surge of heat right where you need it. The voltage choice is practical, too—it taps into a standard industrial supply without tripping the circuit. But it does need proper fusing and a dedicated line. No shortcuts.
What It’s Made Of
Inside, you’ve got a quartz envelope with a halogen cycle. That keeps the filament running hotter and cleaner, so it stays reliable over time. The outer tube has a reflective coating that aims infrared heat downward, straight onto the hearth. Less heat wasted up into the mantle cavity. And the R7s connector? It’s a straight-through, double-ended base that makes wiring straightforward. Align, clamp, and close the fixture. Done.
Why It Works in a Mantel
In a fireplace mantel, that 300mm length and focused infrared output heats the hearth directly, instead of trying to warm the whole room. It’s focused, intentional heat. Just keep in mind: 2500W means serious local heat. The surrounding mantle structure and wiring have to be rated for high temperatures, and the fixture needs proper ventilation spacing to avoid overheating. These are designed as drop-in replacements for existing mantle heaters, but before you install, double-check the mounting clearances and make sure your terminal block ratings are up to the task.
